This was primarily used against aircraft. The open mounts made the gun crews vulnerable to strafing and splinters.

.50 Water-cooled Heavy Machine Gun (HMG)
Eight were mounted for defense against low flying aircraft but proved ineffective due to limited range and hitting power.
