Technical illustration is a combination of drafting,
art, and technical writing. Its purpose is to explain
a system, a piece of equipment, or a procedure to a non-technical
audience. Thus the focus of the technical illustrator is the audience.
If the reader cannot understand the concept, the illustration, no
matter how technically accurate or artistic, fails.

I believe the disciplines from both fields mesh
together smoothly;
an attention to detail combined with an artistic eye towards making
illustrations exciting.
